The wonderful and great nutritionist Stepmother!

I have finally gotten a hold of my stepmother and father to propose my idea and to create almost a family oriented project.

NutriMaven

With this project I have a dream to create a resource for people my age who are adjusting to life being gluten free because of an allergy/sensitivity, or adjusting to life as a Celiac. I would like to use this blog as a way to track my research and post notes from articles, post links to full articles, links to blogs, any possible video links (if they are ever any that become useful)

At this point this blog lives only as a place to track my personal research and keep Chris Sumption (teacher) up to date with progress.....

My ending goal is to create a pamphlet and or a booklet for the Cornish Health and Wellness center (with design/layout  assistance from my father) that will be at ready availability for students.

I would like to use my stepmother as a close reference and guide for research and how present the material since she works as a nutritional therapist.... Is there a way that we can compile our information together on a regular basis? Do we share links of our blogs on each others blog....

Is the sort of blog that I want to create be a personal blog that i see as a diary almost? Because to be perfectly honest I have never fully considered having a blog or considered following a blog closely....

Is there a way to create a daughter and stepmother lazzi of nutritional therapy for the college student?
I know that she references me in her nutritional presentations and conferences regularly and I reference her whenever I am talking nutrition with my peers... Can we take advantage of this already close bond and passion of nutrition and healthy eating?
Will she have the time? is there something worth publishing here?

We shall see...

Seminar Prep Sheet #2

This past week during our seminar I got a good idea for a direction to go for the organization of my information and material. It has kept coming up in my proposal that I want to share this information comprehensively with my peers and create almost a support for myself along with other people. So this idea of teaming with either Amanda or the cafe and creating some sort of pamphlet or information book to answer questions or allow support in a new transition period. I want to some how create the information in an easy  straight forward way, because as I have found the scientific information can get extremely confusing.

The Sources that I have consulted is a continuing of reading Gluten Free Girl and began reading a highly dense scientific article about the fatty acids inside the digestive system. I believe I may have to come back to this article because of my lack of knowledge so far regarding the chemicals in the digestive system. I have also spent several hours on ProQuest finding articles and I now much begin digging through them.

By the end of the week I will have wanted to finished Gluten Free Girl or come very close to finishing. I also hope to get through most of the articles that I have printed. I hope to be taking notes into my notebook and maybe posting them on my blog so the information that I find helpful or important can be at quick reference. I plan on meeting with Amanda in the next few days to share my project so far with her.

Obstacles that stand in my way could be laziness.... I must combat with dedication and hard work.

Steps to move forward are the continuing of my research and creating a meeting with my father who is a designer for newspapers to discuss layouts and to try to catch my stepmother the nutritionist and achieve sources for further research or to see if she can help guide me in a direction.

I am not so sure what I need to discuss in this weeks seminar... this is waiting to be decided to see how research goes...

Seminar Prep sheet #1 from week 9/20

This week I plan on getting a stronger and more focused idea of my project. I hope to get deeper into my research. Hopefully I will finally be able to read The Scientific American magazine. I hope to finally have a chance to meet with Heather and speak with her about my research thus far and to gather more ideas from her. I would like some more rabbit holes in forms of research from Heather. I want to finally get some ProQuest Searching done and print out some articles so that i can make some notations.

The sources I consulted this week was the The American Scientific Magazine along with the Gluten Free Girl book

By next week I want to have completed reading through more articles that I have found either on the internet or through ProQuest. I want to try to find articles from either newspapers or credible magazines. By the end of the week I want to have my blog set up for Chris. I want to have contacted my stepmother along with my father so that they can send more more direction for my project. Maybe help assist me in finding my audience. I know that my stepmother will be fabulous in sending me in a direction for research if she isnt sending my articles directly.

Obstacles that stand in my way is trying to finish this damn book Gluten Free Girl. it takes me a while to finish a full book especially in the middle of the times when i have homework to accompany studying. I just have to apply myself strategically. to work smart. What I am discovering might be obstacles for me will be finding the same information over and over again. Especially since this disease is becoming more and more "popular" or more known about there is so much repetition on the internet of information....Will this harm me or debilitate my working time?

Steps to move forward are reading my book. Talking to my stepmother. Meeting with Heather and Amanda. Keeping up this blog. Printing and finding articles and spending the time reading through them.

in the past weeks seminar what I discussed was my goal for the project. I feel like I am coming in a goal and a strong idea for what i want my project to be, but what I am lacking is knowing who I want my audience to be. I have to decide on my audience so that I know how to present my information in a comprehensive format.

Preliminary Source list #1

The first few sources that I have come across have been an article from The Scientific American as well as a book from my own personal library.Gluten Free Girl has been extremely helpful in the organizing my thoughts for how I might want to organize my information for my audience. She has been helping me as someone who has been gluten free for the past 5 years.

Fasano, Alessio. "Surprise from Celiac Disease." Scientific American. August 2009: 54-61. Print.

Ahern, Shauna. Gluten Free Girl: How I Found Food That Loves Me Back. Hoboken, New Jersey: John Wiley & Sons Inc., 2007. Print.

I have my list in ProQuest that Blogger will not allow me to post through the blog. So I will attach the link to my ProQuest list hoping that it will work out. ProQuest research

I have a few sights saved from Google searches

This article comes from the Seattle Pi Living Well" Celiac Disease needs to be taken seriously
The National Digestive Disease Information Clearinghouse

there is bountiful research all over the internet and what I believe will be my biggest struggle will be finding the same information over and over and over again.

I am plan on speaking with my stepmother sometime this weekend. she is going to be a huge help to me in this process since she has been my nutritionist ever since she told me to stop eating Gluten.  She is going to be an incredible resource for me

Hot Sheet #1

Objecttive:
Being diagnosed as a Celiac sounds intimidating and scary, through this research I plan on focusing on the chemical happenings of Celiac Disease within the body. How is it that gluten effects the body in the deterioration. within the digestive system. i want to know of any cures being researched in the medical field presently and try to pinpoint for myself and others new advances on the disease. I would like to be able to comprehensively share my gathered information of symptoms and signs to my peers. How can I can I help myself and others to not fear being gluten intolerant. How can you find support and happiness in a gluten free lifestyle? To live carefully and well. To learn how to shop carefully in a grocery store. To help inform you on how to make your kitchen and lifestyle completely gluten free.
Additionally I am interested in how we have evolved as humans in what we eat and how this has changed and evolved as we have. Taking a look at what has been available and at our finger tips as predators. How can we utilize healthy eating and sustainability in our everyday lives?

Key words:
Gluten, Celiac Disease,  Grocery Stores, fear,  symptoms,  food,  caring for yourself,  nutrition,  health,  doctors,  testing,  the Gluten Free Girl,  American Scientific Magazine,  Living Without Magazine

Questions:
Has my research thus far sent me into the right direction?
Do I need to widen my topic or bring together my topic more comprehensively?
What is it that my peers feel that they want to know on the topic if they were to open up an information booklet?

Action Plans:
set up meeting with Amanda
meet with Heather
contact my step mother
direct and gather more research
